Overview
In its charter, the stated purpose for the NUACC is to:

     Provide a center for the development, teaching of and research in emerging and next generation computing technologies.

It's description is:

      The NUACC is a center for the development of emerging, advanced and next generation computing technologies. While it is a University Center in that its resources are available to the rest of the University, it is under the administration of the School of Business and Management.  The Director of the Center is appointed by the governing board in consultation with the Chair of the Computing Department.

     The NUACC serves students and faculty [of Norwich University] and may be used for developing collaborative relationships with departments and other organizations within the University, other universities, government organizations and private sector companies.  The mission of the NUACC includes, but is not limited to:


  • Student research
  • Faculty research
  • Collaborative research
  • Teaching
  • Support for co-curricular computing-related activities
  • Hosting specialized laboratory environments for its own and other departments in the University or with organizations with which the Center has an approved collaboration
  • Incubator projects
  • Other such projects as the Director and the Governing Board may approve.
 
... The NUACC is the permanent home of the University's virtual laboratory network environment and provides the core computing resources for the NUACC.  This environment may be used for any of the purposes approved for the NUACC and is managed exclusively by the NUACC on behalf of its users.



     The NUACC is governed by a governing board within the University consisting of the Dean of the School of Business and Management, the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Director of the Center.

      It is supported in an advisory capacity by an Industry Board of Advisors consisting of representatives of donor organizations and individually selected experts in various computing fields and industry/government sectors.

     The NUACC was chartered officially on 10 February 2009.
